Meet Alex 🧡
Alex is a Phidippus otiosus sub-adult around I9, currently showing off their bright orange coloring. Right now, they’re looking like a female, but there’s still a chance their next molt could reveal male coloration — we’ll just have to wait and see!
Alex has a bit of a jumpy streak at first, but once they realize they’re safe, they calm right down. They’ve got lots of energy and curiosity, making them such a fun spider to watch and interact with. Whoever brings Alex home gets front-row seats to their next big transformation! 🕷️✨
All jumping spiders need a home with cross-ventilation — this is absolutely essential for their health. The medium 3x5.75 enclosure is the ideal size for otiosus since they are a smaller species; I don’t recommend anything larger. Bigger setups can make it harder for them to find food, and many stop eating when their space is too open.
Avoid glass enclosures — they don’t provide the airflow your spider needs.  Proper cross-ventilation is key to keeping your spider happy and healthy. 💨
