Regal Food & Drink

Regals can eat most soft-bodied insects, we recommend mealworms due to their easy availability. You can also offer spiders other feeders like dubia roaches, fly larvae, pinhead crickets, and waxworms.

Meal frequency depends on a spider's age and abdomen size - it's time to feed when their abdomen is the same width or narrower than their head.

Provide regular moisture to Regals, as they are native to Florida - a humid environment. We mist Regal enclosures every other day to provide droplets for drinking and to maintain humidity levels. Bioactive enclosures can help maintain moisture levels via plants and soil.

Regal Spider Handling

Regals love to explore their local environs - which includes your hands - so bring them out for playtime regularly!

You'll want to be paying attention as Regals are quick movers when first let loose. We recommend taking a few minutes to let them get the "jumpies" out. Handle them in a organized space where you can easily see if them if they jump out of your hands, like at a clean table or desk. Be mindful of their safety line, and how it connects them to your hands.

Most Regals settle down after ~5 minutes of being out and about, and may find a comfortable spot on your hand or clothing to start grooming themselves! This is when you know you're gonna be best buddies.
